Target Information
ETFA participates in catalyzing the initial step of mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation. It transfers electrons between primary flavoprotein dehydrogenases and the membrane-bound electron transfer flavoprotein ubiquinone oxidoreductase.
Defects in ETFA are associated with type II glutaricaciduria, leading to multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiencies and abnormal acid excretion. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
