Target Information
CD20 is a non-glycosylated surface phosphoprotein with a molecular weight of 33–37 kDa depending on phosphorylation. It is expressed on mature and most malignant B cells, some T lymphocytes, and follicular dendritic cells. CD20 regulates transmembrane calcium conductance, cell cycle progression, and B-cell proliferation. It associates with lipid rafts and interacts dynamically with the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR). CD20 remains surface-bound after antibody binding, making it a valuable target for therapeutic B-cell depletion. Dysfunctions in CD20 are linked to Ms4a1-related common variable immune deficiency.
