Target Information
PDGFRB (Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor Beta) is a receptor tyrosine kinase involved in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for cells of mesenchymal origin. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers with PDGFRA, depending on the ligand. The PDGFRB gene is located on chromosome 5, adjacent to the genes for GM-CSF and M-CSFR, and may be implicated in 5q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 is associated with chronic myeloproliferative disorders with eosinophilia.
