Target Information
Septin 2 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase required for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton. It plays a role in epithelial cell polarization by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules, facilitating vesicle transport, and preventing MAP4 binding to tubulin. Septin 2 is essential for mitotic progression, spindle organization, and chromosome congression. It also contributes to chromosome segregation, spindle elongation, ciliogenesis, and collective cell movement.
