Target Information
Cell division cycle associated 2 (CDCA2, Repo-Man) is a cell-cycle protein that recruits protein phosphatase 1 (PP1) to mitotic chromatin at anaphase onset, which is essential for cell proliferation.
Phosphorylation of CDCA2 at Ser893 by Aurora B inhibits its activity, while dephosphorylation by PP2A allows reformation of the CDCA2/PP1 complex.
This complex is involved in chromatin binding, histone H3 dephosphorylation, and nuclear envelope reformation during mitotic exit.
CDCA2 also participates in DNA repair processes and may play a role in cancer progression.
Increased CDCA2 expression has been observed in melanoma, neuroblastoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and synovial sarcoma, suggesting potential as a prognostic marker.
