- PA5-81795 shows cross-reactivity in ELISA and WB with SARS-CoV-2 (2019-nCoV) Spike S1 and SARS-CoV-2 Spike RBD.
- Prepared using the sequence encoding the S1 subunit of SARS-CoV (isolate: WH20) spike (AAX16192.1) (Met1–Arg667), expressed with a C-terminal polyhistidine tag.
- Preservative-free; sodium azide (0.05–0.1%) recommended to prevent contamination.
- Specific for Human SARS Coronavirus Spike S1 Subunit Protein.
Target Information
SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2), also known as 2019-nCoV, causes illnesses from mild cold-like symptoms to severe respiratory distress and death. The SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein consists of S1 and S2 domains and serves as the main surface antigen of the virus.
The glycosylated Spike protein, along with the nucleocapsid protein, can be detected in infected cell culture supernatants using antisera from SARS patients.
S1 contains a receptor-binding domain (RBD) that specifically binds to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) on target cells.
Variations in Spike proteins reflect CoV diversity, affecting receptor interactions and viral membrane fusion mechanisms.
