Target Information
Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily that includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3.
ERBB4 binds and is activated by neuregulins and other factors, inducing various cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
ErbB4 functions as a receptor for heregulin and mediates HGL-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation.
It plays a key role in signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
ErbB4 is predominantly expressed in several breast carcinoma cell lines and normal tissues such as skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum.
High mRNA levels are observed in T47-D, MDA-MB-453, BT-474, and H3396 cell lines, while intermediate levels are found in MCF-7, MDA-MB-330, and MDA-MB-361.
Expression is low or absent in MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-157, MDA-MB-468, and SKBR-3.
Elevated ErbB4 levels in certain tumor cell lines suggest its involvement in malignancies.
