Target Information
The MTX2 gene encodes a protein homologous to mouse metaxin 2, known to interact with mitochondrial membrane protein metaxin 1. The protein is likely associated with the cytosolic surface of the outer mitochondrial membrane and plays a role in protein import into mitochondria. Multiple transcript variants exist due to alternative splicing, and a related pseudogene is located on chromosome 7.
