Target Information
Tetanus toxin은 Clostridium tetani의 영양 포자에서 생성되는 신경독소로, 골격근의 지속적인 수축을 유발하는 파상풍을 일으킵니다.
전 세계적으로 매년 약 100만 건의 파상풍 사례가 보고되며, 주로 개발도상국에서 30만~50만 명의 사망을 초래합니다.
이 독소는 약 150kDa의 분자량을 가지며, 100kDa의 중쇄(B-chain)와 50kDa의 경쇄(A-chain)가 이황화 결합으로 연결되어 있습니다.
신경전달물질 방출을 억제하며, 말초 신경 시냅스에 결합 후 축삭을 따라 척수로 이동하여 GABA 및 glycine의 방출을 억제함으로써 근육 과흥분을 유발합니다.
신경세포에 결합된 독소는 비가역적입니다.
