Target Information
The CYP3A43 gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. These proteins are monooxygenases that catalyze reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids, and other lipids. This enzyme exhibits low testosterone hydroxylase activity. Although it shares homology with drug-metabolizing cytochrome P450s, its role in xenobiotic metabolism remains unclear. The gene is located in a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 7q21.1 and has three transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
