Target Information
TEM8 (Tumor Endothelial Marker 8) encodes a type I transmembrane protein that functions as a tumor-specific endothelial marker implicated in colorectal cancer. It also serves as a receptor for Bacillus anthracis toxin, mediating the internalization of toxin components into the cytosol. Once internalized, the edema factor (EF) and lethal factor (LF) components disrupt normal cellular processes. Three alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
