CDH22 유전자는 cadherin superfamily에 속하며, 다섯 개의 cadherin 반복 도메인과 고도로 보존된 cytoplasmic tail을 포함합니다. 주로 뇌에서 발현되며, 칼슘 의존적 세포 부착 단백질로서 신경 및 비신경 세포의 형태형성과 조직 형성에 중요한 역할을 할 가능성이 있습니다.
