Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform desalting using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The tumor suppressor protein p53 is a sequence-specific transcription factor activated by cellular stress. It mediates cell cycle arrest or apoptosis in response to DNA damage or nucleotide starvation.
p53 activation leads to transcription of genes such as p21waf1, which regulate G1 or G2/M arrest. Structurally, p53 includes:

  • N-terminal transactivation domain
  • Central DNA-binding domain
  • Oligomerisation domain
  • C-terminal regulatory domain

Phosphorylation at Ser15 is critical for activation and stabilization, while Ser392 phosphorylation is associated with tumor formation.
p53 functions as a key anticancer protein by preventing proliferation of damaged cells. Mutations in TP53 disrupt DNA binding and tumor suppressor activity, contributing to malignancy.
Alterations of TP53 occur as somatic or germline mutations, including those found in Li-Fraumeni syndrome.
Additionally, p53 is linked to aging, oxidative stress, and memory-related processes such as long-term potentiation (LTP).
