Product Specific Information
- For immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD31 (platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1, PECAM-1) is an inhibitory coreceptor involved in regulation of T cell and B cell signaling via dual immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). Upon phosphorylation by associated kinases, these motifs provide docking sites for protein-tyrosine phosphatases. CD31 is expressed ubiquitously within the vascular compartment, mainly at junctions between adjacent cells.
The N-terminal Ig-like domain of CD31 mediates homophilic binding, crucial for cell-cell interactions. CD31 plays diverse roles in:
- Modulation of integrin-mediated cell adhesion
- Transendothelial migration and angiogenesis
- Apoptosis regulation
- Negative regulation of immunoreceptor signaling
- Autoimmunity and macrophage phagocytosis
- IgE-mediated anaphylaxis and thrombosis
It is one of the key regulatory molecules in the vascular system.
