Dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR)는 dihydrofolate를 tetrahydrofolate로 전환시키는 효소로, 퓨린, thymidylic acid 및 특정 아미노산의 합성에 필수적입니다. 기능성 DHFR 유전자는 염색체 5에 위치하며, 여러 개의 intronless pseudogene 또는 DHFR 유사 유전자가 다른 염색체에서도 발견됩니다. DHFR 결핍은 거대적아구성 빈혈(megaloblastic anemia)과 관련이 있습니다.
