Gab2는 GRB2-associated binding protein (GAB) 유전자 패밀리에 속하며, pleckstrin homology (PH) 도메인을 포함하고 SHP2 tyrosine phosphatase 및 GRB2 adapter protein과 결합합니다.
이 단백질은 cytokine 및 growth factor receptor, T/B-cell antigen receptor 자극에 대한 신호 전달의 어댑터 역할을 하며, 고친화성 IgE receptor 활성화에 반응하여 phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase의 주요 활성화 인자로 작용합니다.
두 가지 다른 isoform을 인코딩하는 alternative splicing 전사체가 보고되었습니다.
