Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles responsible for protein synthesis and consist of a small (40S) and large (60S) subunit containing over 80 distinct ribosomal proteins.
Ribosomal Protein L39 (RPL39), also known as 60S Ribosomal Protein L39, is the smallest protein found in liver ribosomes (51 amino acids).
RPL39 localizes to the cytoplasm and belongs to the S39E family of ribosomal proteins.
The RPL39 gene is located on human chromosome Xq24 and shares 92% homology with Ribosomal Protein L39L (RPL39-like, also known as L39-2 or RPL39L1), which is associated with the 60S ribosomal subunit and expressed in the testis with nucleolar localization.
