Septin 1 (SEPT1)는 GTPase 계열의 septin 패밀리에 속하는 단백질로, 세포분열(cytokinesis)과 세포 형태 유지에 필수적입니다. 이 단백질은 호모 및 헤테로 올리고머 필라멘트를 형성할 수 있으며, 알츠하이머병에서 신경섬유 엉킴(neurofibrillary tangles)의 형성에 관여할 수 있습니다. 또한, 대체 스플라이싱된 전사 변이체가 보고되었으나, 전체 길이는 완전히 규명되지 않았습니다.
