Target Information
CD44 is a 100 kDa cell surface glycoprotein widely expressed on human leukocytes, brain white matter, and some epithelial cells of the intestine and breast.
It acts as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and mediates cell-cell interactions, adhesion, and migration.
CD44 participates in lymphocyte activation, recirculation, and homing, and its expression may be up-regulated in certain carcinomas, potentially linked to metastatic potential.
