Cell adhesion molecule-related, downregulated by oncogenes (CDON) gene is mapped to human chromosome 11q23–24.
The CDO protein encoded by this gene is a known cell surface receptor of the immunoglobulin superfamily.
This cell surface protein consists of five Ig repeats and three fibronectin type III (FNIII) repeats in its extracellular region, a transmembrane domain, and a 270 amino acid intracellular region.
