Target Information

H2AX is a variant of the H2A protein family and a component of the histone octamer in nucleosomes. It becomes phosphorylated at Ser139 (γ-H2AX) by kinases such as ATM and ATR in the PI3K pathway. γ-H2AX formation marks the initiation of DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair by recruiting DNA repair proteins. The presence of γ-H2AX foci serves as a sensitive biomarker for DNA damage induced by ionizing radiation or cytotoxic agents. Visualization of γ-H2AX enables assessment of genomic damage and DNA repair mechanisms.
