- Gene description: The gene ACKR2 (atypical chemokine receptor 2) is mapped to human chromosome 3p21. It encodes a protein containing a conserved tyrosine motif at the N terminus that is involved in ligand binding, internalization, and scavenging. It is expressed in barrier tissues such as skin, gut, lung, and syncytiotrophoblast layer of the placenta. In adults, it is expressed on lymphatic endothelial cells, leukocytes, and keratinocytes.
