Anti-SH3-SAM adaptor protein, Anti-SAM domain-containing protein SAMSN-1, Anti-SAM domain, SH3 domain and nuclear localization signals protein 1, Anti-Hematopoietic adaptor containing SH3 and SAM domains 1
SAMSN1 (SAM domain, SH3 domain and nuclear localization signals 1) is a cytoplasmic adaptor protein belonging to the SLY family. It is abundantly expressed in the hematopoietic compartment. Its expression to a lesser extent have also been found in heart, brain, placenta, and lung. Generally, they are characterized by the presence of protein-protein interaction domains. It consists of a sterile motif (SAM) domain that is capable of self-association and can also associate with each other. The chimeric fusion of this domain with the ßPDGF receptor, AML1, c-Abl, and JAK2 results in the oncogenic transformation of the SAM domain. The SH3 domains mediate protein-protein interactions in several signal transduction pathways.
