The gene TSP1 (thrombospondin 1) is mapped to human chromosome 15q14. It is a matricellular glycoprotein and can be secreted by many cells. Recombinant human thrombospondin is glycosylated with N-linked sugars and produced using baculovirus vectors in insect cells.
