Target Information

CaV3.3 encodes the pore-forming alpha subunit of a voltage-gated calcium channel. This protein is a member of the low voltage-activated, T-type calcium channel subfamily. CaV3.3 channels activate and inactivate more slowly than other T-type channels and may participate in neuronal calcium signaling.
Voltage-gated calcium channels (CaV) mediate calcium influx in response to depolarization and regulate processes such as contraction, secretion, neurotransmission, and gene expression.
Diseases associated with CACNA1I include Childhood Absence Epilepsy.
Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants of CaV3.3.
