Target Information
YTHDF2 specifically recognizes and binds N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-containing RNAs, regulating mRNA stability.
m6A is a modification present at internal sites of mRNAs and some non-coding RNAs, influencing splicing, processing, and stability.
YTHDF2 acts as a regulator of mRNA degradation by localizing m6A-containing mRNAs to decay sites such as processing bodies (P-bodies).
Upon heat shock stress, it relocates to the nucleus and promotes cap-independent mRNA translation by protecting m6A marks at the 5'-UTR from demethylation by FTO.
