Target Information
YTHDF2 specifically recognizes and binds N6-methyladenosine (m6A)-containing RNAs and regulates mRNA stability.
- M6A is a modification present at internal sites of mRNAs and some non-coding RNAs, influencing splicing, processing, and stability.
- Acts as a regulator of mRNA stability by binding to m6A-containing mRNAs and localizing them to decay sites (P-bodies), leading to degradation.
- Promotes cap-independent mRNA translation following heat shock stress by relocating to the nucleus and binding mRNAs with m6A at the 5'-UTR, protecting them from demethylation by FTO.
