Target Information
Eotaxin-3 (also known as CCL26, Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 26) is a small cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family. Chemokines control migration and tissue localization of specific cell types expressing their cognate receptors.
Eotaxin-3 is chemotactic for eosinophils and basophils and acts via the CCR3 receptor. It is expressed in multiple tissues including heart, lung, and ovary, and in endothelial cells stimulated with interleukin-4. The CCL26 gene is located on human chromosome 7.
Eotaxin-3 induces migration of eosinophils and basophils at concentrations approximately 10-fold higher than eotaxin.
