Target Information
Mitofilin is a transmembrane protein of the inner mitochondrial membrane associated with a large multimeric protein complex (~1200 kDa). It plays a critical role in mitochondrial morphology, fusion, and fission, particularly in the formation of tubular cristae and cristae junctions.
Abnormal mitochondrial morphology has been linked to several human diseases including myopathy, cardiomyopathy, rhabdomyosarcoma, and Whartin’s tumor.
