Mitofilin은 미토콘드리아 내막의 막관통 단백질로 약 1200 kDa의 다중 단백질 복합체와 연관되어 있습니다.
이 단백질은 미토콘드리아 형태 유지 및 융합·분열 과정에서 중요한 역할을 하며, 특히 tubular cristae 및 cristae junction 형성에 관여합니다.
비정상적인 미토콘드리아 형태는 근병증, 심근병증, 횡문근육종, Whartin’s 종양 등 다양한 인체 질환과 관련이 있습니다.
