The monoclonal antibody 5E5 recognizes human CD98hc protein, also known as CD98 heavy chain, FRP-1 (fusion regulatory protein-1), or 4F2.
CD98 is a disulfide-linked complex consisting of a heavy chain (Type II membrane protein) and a light chain (LAT1, LAT2, y+LAT1, y+LAT2, Asc-1, xCT).
It can associate with β1 integrins, EpCAM, and CD147 (EMMPRIN), playing roles in amino acid transport, cell fusion, and integrin-mediated adhesion.

• Broad expression across non-hematopoietic cells
• High expression in monocytes, intermediate in lymphocytes, low in granulocytes
• Reported for use in flow cytometric analysis
• Pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometry of normal human peripheral blood cells
• Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume
• Applicable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test
