Product Specific Information

  • In sandwich ELISAs, cross-reactivity was less than 2% with recombinant mouse IFN-γ, and less than 0.1% with recombinant human and porcine IFN-γ.
  • Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor and immune interferon produced primarily by T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells in response to antigens, mitogens, and cytokines.
It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits, showing species-specific biological activity.
Human IFN-γ does not cross-react with mouse IFN-γ.
Functions include antiviral and antiproliferative activity, induction of MHC I/II, macrophage activation, and enhancement of immunoglobulin secretion.
IFN-γ acts via IFN-γ receptor I/II and the JAK-STAT pathway, and is regulated by IL2, FGF basic, EGF (upregulated) and vitamin D3 or DMN (downregulated).
Mutations in the IFN-γ gene have been associated with aplastic anemia.
