Target Information
The SSX5 gene encodes a member of the synovial sarcoma X (SSX) breakpoint protein family, which may act as transcriptional repressors. These proteins can elicit spontaneous humoral and cellular immune responses in cancer patients, making them potential targets for cancer vaccine-based immunotherapy. Unlike other SSX genes involved in synovial sarcoma translocations, SSX5 does not appear to participate in such rearrangements. Two transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified.
