Target Information
Processing of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) by alpha- and beta-secretases is a central regulatory event in amyloid beta peptide (Abeta) generation, which plays a key role in Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis.
TMEM59, a Golgi-localized protein, modulates O-glycosylation and complex N-glycosylation during Golgi maturation of several proteins such as APP, BACE1, SEAP, and PRNP. It inhibits APP transport and shedding.
