Target Information
FHOD3 is a novel member of the formin homology family playing an important role in the regulation of the actin cytoskeleton. It contains several key domains:
- DAD (diaphanous auto regulatory) domain
- FH1 (formin homology 1) domain
- FH2 (formin homology 2) domain
- GBD/FH3 (Rho GTPase-binding/formin homology 3) domain
FHOD3 is a cytoplasmic protein that mainly localizes to actin fibers, with partial filamentous staining. It is a 1422 amino acid formin-related actin-organizing protein that may induce stress fiber formation and cell elongation, possibly associating with nestin/NES-based intermediate filaments (IF). Expression is observed mainly in the heart, kidney, and brain.
