Cripto (TDGF1)은 GPI-anchored 세포막 단백질로 Nodal 신호전달에 관여합니다. 세포 결합형 TDGF1은 Nodal coreceptor로 작용하며, TMEM8A에 의해 절단되어 생성된 가용성 TDGF1은 다른 세포에서 Nodal coreceptor로 기능할 수 있습니다.
TDGF1은 배아줄기세포 및 배아 초기 발달 단계에서 발현되며, 성체에서는 다양한 상피암에서 재활성화됩니다.
