Target Information
Stromelysin (MMP-11), a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family, exhibits broad substrate specificity, capable of degrading proteoglycan, fibronectin, laminin, casein, and the nonhelical region of collagen.
The stromelysin-3 (MMP-11) gene is expressed specifically in stromal cells surrounding invasive breast carcinomas and is localized to the long arm of chromosome 22.
MMP-11 expression is more prominent in malignant tumors compared to benign ones.
