Target Information
Guanylyl cyclases catalyze the production of cGMP from GTP and are classified into soluble and membrane forms. The membrane guanylyl cyclases (A–F) act as cell-surface receptors with an extracellular ligand-binding domain, a single transmembrane domain, and an intracellular region containing a kinase-like and cyclase catalytic domain. GC-A and GC-B serve as receptors for natriuretic peptides (ANP and BNP). NPR1 encodes a membrane-bound guanylate cyclase that functions as the receptor for atrial and brain natriuretic peptides.
