Target Information
Septin 2 is a filament-forming cytoskeletal GTPase required for normal organization of the actin cytoskeleton. It plays a role in the formation of polarized epithelium by maintaining polyglutamylated microtubules for efficient vesicle transport and preventing MAP4 binding to tubulin. Septin 2 is essential for mitotic progression, forming a scaffold at the mitotic spindle midplane to maintain CENPE localization and chromosome congression. It also contributes to chromosome segregation, spindle elongation, ciliogenesis, and collective cell movement.
