Target Information
Norovirus is a highly contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. People of all ages can become infected and sick with norovirus, which spreads easily. Individuals infected with norovirus can shed billions of viral particles. Mutations in the protruding domain 2 (P2 domain) of the norovirus major capsid protein (VP1) lead to the emergence of various NOV variants. However, it remains unclear whether the minor capsid protein (VP2) also influences the generation of VP1 variants.
