Antibody detects endogenous levels of total MYOC.
Target Information
Myocilin is an extracellular protein expressed in the eye, including the retina, trabecular meshwork, and ciliary body.
It forms homomultimers in vivo and associates with extracellular matrix components via the Hep II domain of FibroPVRL1.
Myocilin also interacts with myosin regulatory light chain, linking it to the actomyosin system and trabecular meshwork (TM) function.
Alterations in TM function may elevate intraocular pressure (IOP) and contribute to glaucoma development.
MYOC (also known as TIGR) maps to chromosome 1q24.3, and mutations are associated with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).
