Target Information
Peroxiredoxin (Prx) is a peroxidase family associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. Mammalian Prxs include six members categorized into typical 2-Cys, atypical 2-Cys, and 1-Cys Prx subgroups.
- Typical 2-Cys Prx: Thioredoxin-dependent peroxidase activity utilizing thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, and NADPH.
- Subcellular localization:
- Prx I, II, VI: Cytosol
- Prx III: Mitochondria
- Prx IV: Endoplasmic reticulum and secretion
- Prx V: Peroxisome, mitochondria, and cytosol
Mammalian Prxs are approximately 20–30 kDa in molecular size.
