Target Information
The small GTPases Rab family are key regulators of intracellular membrane trafficking, controlling transport vesicle formation and fusion with target membranes. Rabs alternate between an inactive GDP-bound state and an active GTP-bound state that recruits downstream effectors responsible for vesicle formation, movement, tethering, and fusion.
RAB1B specifically regulates vesicular transport between the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi compartments and plays a role in the early stages of autophagic vacuole formation at specialized regions of the endoplasmic reticulum.
