Human Rap1은 yeast telomeric protein scRap1의 ortholog로, 세 가지 보존된 서열 모티프를 공유합니다. HRap1은 TRF2에 의해 텔로미어로 유도되어 텔로미어 길이에 영향을 미치며, TRF1과는 상호작용하지 않습니다.
TRF2는 텔로미어 길이 조절에 관여하는 단백질로 Myb 관련 DNA 결합 모티프를 포함하며, TTAGGG 반복 서열에 결합하여 텔로미어 말단 구조를 유지합니다.
TRF2 억제는 일부 포유류 세포에서 세포 노화 방지 및 세포자멸사 유도에 관련된 것으로 알려져 있습니다.
