Target Information
ACCN1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. These are amiloride-sensitive sodium channels with intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop rich in cysteine residues with conserved spacing. This protein may play a role in neurotransmission, and it can form heteromeric proton-gated channels with ACCN3 (variant 1) that are sensitive to gadolinium.
