Target Information

The Teashirt zinc finger homeobox (TSHZ) family comprises evolutionarily conserved transcription factors. In Drosophila, they are active in specific body parts for patterning, while in vertebrates their roles are less defined. In mice, three known TSHZ proteins show distinct expression patterns in the developing and adult brain, suggesting roles in regional identity and cell-type specification.
TSHZ3 and TSHZ1 interact with FE65, an adapter protein binding to APP in neurons, forming a gene-silencing complex with SET and histone deacetylases, targeting caspase-4. Recent studies suggest potential involvement in carcinogenesis.
