This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).
This antibody has specificity for Human AK1/Adenylate kinase 1.

Target Information

Adenylate kinase is an enzyme that regulates the adenine nucleotide composition within a cell by catalyzing the reversible transfer of phosphate groups among adenine nucleotides.
Three isozymes of adenylate kinase have been identified in vertebrates: AK1, AK2, and AK3.

• AK1: Found in cytosol of skeletal muscle, brain, and erythrocytes.
• AK2 & AK3: Found in mitochondria of other tissues including liver and heart.

AK1 is associated with a rare genetic disorder causing nonspherocytic hemolytic anemia, where a mutation in the AK1 gene reduces catalytic activity of the enzyme.
