Target Information
Several serine/threonine protein kinases act as intermediates in signal transduction pathways, including ERK/MAP kinases, ribosomal S6 kinase (Rsk), and Raf-1. Raf-1 is a cytoplasmic protein with intrinsic serine/threonine activity, broadly expressed in most cell lines and homologous to v-Raf, the transforming gene product of murine sarcoma virus strain 3611.
A-Raf, a second Raf gene family member, shares high homology with Raf-1 within the kinase domain but less outside it. A-Raf expression is highest in urogenital tissues and kidney, and lowest in brain tissue.
