Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of total Fibronectin.

Target Information

Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight of 230–250 kDa. In connective tissues and blood vessels, fibronectin exists as an insoluble, cross-linked protein forming high molecular mass polymers. It is abundant during embryonic development and tissue remodeling and is also found as a soluble plasma protein.

Fibronectin functions in cell adhesion, migration, wound healing, blood coagulation, host defense, and metastasis. It is implicated in carcinoma development, particularly in non-small cell lung carcinoma, where its expression is elevated. Fibronectin facilitates tumor cell adhesion and confers resistance to apoptosis induced by chemotherapeutic agents.

The FN1 gene undergoes alternative splicing in three regions, potentially generating up to 20 transcript variants, although some full-length variants remain uncharacterized.
