Target Information

Neuropilin 1 is a 923 amino acid membrane-bound coreceptor belonging to the neuropilin family, containing two CUB domains, two F5/8 type C domains, and a MAM domain. It forms a heterodimer with NRP2 and binds to plexin (PLXNB1) to form semaphorin receptors. Expressed mainly in the nervous system, it is involved in cardiovascular development, angiogenesis, axon guidance, neuronal circuit formation, cell survival, neuronal migration, and organogenesis. Neuropilin 1 also functions as a receptor for semaphorins and VEGF, regulating VEGF-induced angiogenesis, and is implicated in advanced prostate and breast cancer progression.
